Negreanu Joined In The Battle With Ivey Against Full Tilt Poker US Case
A few days after Full Tilt Poker responded to Phil Ivey’s attack on the online poker site for not returning funds to US players, another poker pro has joined in the battle. Daniel Negreanu has come out in support for Ivey and congratulated him for standing up to Full Tilt. As a recap, Ivey said that he would be suing the poker room for non-payment, and also said that he would not be taking part in this year’s World Series of Poker tournament in solidarity with players who didn’t have access to their funds to pay for entry fees. In response, Full Tilt called Ivey “frivolous” and “sanctimonious”, and slammed his decision to sue the group.
This week, Negreanu added his own two cents in support of Ivey, saying: “I admire that he’s willing to give up something like the WSOP, that I know is so important to him, for what he thinks is principally right.”
“It’s interesting that Tiltware released a statement about Ivey being selfish but they had a month to release a statement about funds,” he said. “The Tiltware statement was shocking to me how low class it was. It wasn’t surprising but it is really low class the way they handled it.” He also added that he wouldn’t “walk these halls with a patch on for a company that is keeping people on the rail.”
Another Full Tilt pro, Eric Froehlich also supported Ivey and said that he was making a stand for his own personal reasons and the benefit of other people, “and I think it’s a good thing.”
However, Ivey obviously doesn’t enjoy the backing of all players. Andrew Robl criticized the pro in his blog, calling Ivey “self-serving” and “trying to cover his own ass”. He said that Ivey should rather follow in the footsteps of Tom Dwan who vowed to pay back players from his own millions if Full Tilt refused to do so.
