Daniel Negreanu Starts $25,000 Fantasy Poker League At WSOP 2011
2011 World Series of Poker News Discusses Daniel Negreanu’s Fantasy Poker League
Daniel Negreanu and fellow poker pro Erick Lindgren organized a $25,000 fantasy poker league for this year’s World Series of Poker.
The league features a total prize pool of $375,000 for the 15-team league. The draft was held in an auction format until each person selected eight players they would ride for the entire World Series of Poker.
Stan Magusiak, a web developer, set up a website for fans to follow the 15-team league and view up-to-date standings.
A combined team of James Bord and Tody Lewis are currently in first place in the standings, with Negreanu holding steady in the middle of the pack.
Negreanu has big plans for his fantasy league and is currently looking for ways to improve the league. Negreanu had this to say to Arthur Crowson of Poker Listings,
I’ve actually already come up with a couple ideas for next year to make it even more fun.
It would add even more strategy and make it more position-based, it would be like drafting a quarterback in fantasy football.
He is looking to add women and no-limit players to the mix next year to make it more creative. It seems that Negreanu has it all planned out and is looking to expand his league even further in the future.
Who knows, maybe fantasy poker will be the next big thing.
