Erik Seidel Wins WPT World Championship $100,000 Super High Roller
In a year that seems almost too good to be true, Erik Seidel has added yet another win in 2011 after taking down the WPT World Championship Super High Roller.
The victory definitely wasn’t a walk in the part though as Seidel faced a strong heads-up opponent in Erik Lindgren. Seidel held a 7,120,000 (71 bb) to 4,480,000 (45 bb) chip advantage, but lost this lead several times throughout the course of play.
After 289 hands of play, Lindgren actually managed to take a 3.5-to-1 chip advantage. However, it took Seidel only 37 hands to reclaim the lead, and finish Lindgren off for the title.
On the final hand, the flop came out Ac-4c-2c, and Lindgren shoved his last million chips into the middle with Jc-3h. After thinking for a little bit, Seidel called and flipped over Ah-5h. The turn was 9d and the river was 2s, which gave Seidel the victory.
This is Seidel’s fourth title and his 9th final table of 2011. In addition to this, he has over $5.4 million in live winnings through the middle of May.
Here is a look at the final table:
1. Erik Seidel – $1,092,780
2. Erick Lindgren – $700,500
3. Daniel Negreanu – $448,320
4. Vivek Rajkumar – $336,240
5. Justin “ZeeJustin” Bonomo – $224,160
