Full Tilt Poker Cancel The Onyx Cup
The much anticipated Onyx Cup has been canceled by Full Tilt poker following actions taken against them by the US government. The Onyx Cup was set to be the ultimate high stakes poker series with buy-ins ranging from $100k to $300k, and a guaranteed $30 million offered across 6 events; the $250k buy-in Grand Finale was even going to have another $1 million added by Full Tilt.
In addition to all of this, the Onyx Cup was supposed to showcase the world’s best poker talents as echoed by Phil Ivey when he said, “It’s not just about the money in this event, It’s more about playing with the caliber of players that we’re going to be up against. You know, playing against the best players, and a lot of these guys here at the table are my friends and we’re friendly but we’re also super competitive against each other. There’s going to be a lot of pride that comes along with winning this event.”
Now this huge event falls by the wayside, along with some of Full Tilt’s other future plans
