Rumors Says Pokerlistings purchases Cake Poker
We’ve spoken a fair bit about the demise of the Cake poker network on this blog recently and what the future holds for a company that used to be one of the most recognised in the online gaming industry.
Well, if the poker rumour mill is to be believed, we may have found ourselves an answer.
The latest suggestion that has been gathering pace on various poker forums is that the popular affiliate site PokerListings.com may well be interested in purchasing it.
The gossip has stemmed from the fact that PokerListings is currently showing an advertisement offering new players an unprecedented 110% match bonus worth up to $1,100.
PokerListings is arguably the most well known poker portal in the business and is largely associated with the unsolved murder of its founder, Andreas Oscarsson, who was shot back in 2009.
It should be stressed that this is still only a rumour and to be honest, I’m not sure how much credence should be put into these suggestions. However, it’s certainly true that PokerListings hasn’t promoted Cake poker this strongly for years and a move into the operational side of poker would certainly appear to be the next step forward for the site.
Cake poker on the other hand has been struggling following a series of high profile names living their network. Lock poker, Sportsbook, Players Only and Doyles Room have all found new homes over the course of the last 12 months meaning that a once powerful brand is now only ranked in the mid-twenties by PokerScout.com in terms of overall traffic.
This is certainly one to keep an eye on though, and if things do progress it would certainly shake up the industry as we currently know it.
