Shane Warne Signs Poker Contract With 888Poker
Shane Warne represents one of the most recognised faces in the sporting world. Standing at 6ft tall, the former Australian Cricketer is widely regarded as one of the best bowlers to have ever graced the game. Cited as one of five Wisden Cricketers of the Century, the star made his professional debut back in 1992 before enjoying a glittering career in International and Test Cricket until his retirement in 2007. Since that time, the player has turned his hand to cricket commentating but it is his up and coming status as a professional poker player that is really starting to turn heads.
Warne, 41, has now signed a new contract with 888 Poker and will be representing the brand at numerous poker events throughout the year. Highlights will no doubt include the 888 UK Poker Open, the Crown Casino Aussie Millions as well as the hotly anticipated World Series of Poker (WSOP).
The star’s private life, meanwhile, has also been the subject of media scrutiny as new revelations emerged concerning the player’s extramarital infidelities. Warne has most recently been linked with British actress, Elizabeth Hurley, who separated from her husband, Arun, earlier this year. Fans of Warne, the risk taker, will surely be anxious to see if the star can pull off further success in the tournaments to come. The countdown to the WSOP – one of the true highlights of the gaming calendar – looks set to generate huge excitement in the months ahead. Warne will have a great deal to prove as he takes on a very different gaming challenge indeed!
