Professional Poker Player and Philanthropist Beth Shak Named to Shoe Revolt Advisory Board
Professional poker player Beth Shak has been named to the advisory board of Shoe Revolt, a social enterprise that sells new and gently used shoes to fight human trafficking in the United States.
“With over a thousand pairs of designer shoes, I understand the ‘addiction’ to beautiful shoes,” Shak says. “I love the idea of appealing to women’s love of shoes to help girls and young women escape the tyranny of sexual violence. Together we have the power to kick human trafficking to the curb in this country.”
Shak has played poker professionally since 2004. She’s appeared in the World Series of Poker, YRB Magazine’s “Rock It” fashion spread, MTV Cribs and Playboy’s Poker Tournament. She had 10 tournament cashes to her name, placing her among the top of the Women’s All Time Money List. She placed eighth in the 2005 World Series of Poker Ladies’ event. She is developing a clothing line that will include a high-end shoe line. Shak most recently appeared on Millionaire Matchmaker on Bravo and has an upcoming appearance on Stanley Tucci’s show, Vine Talk.
Shak is involved in a number of philanthropic activities, playing in many charity poker tournaments and raising money for various charities, most notably for The Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania’s Palliative Care program.
Through Shoe Revolt, all net profit realized is dedicated to fighting sex trafficking, with 100% of funds going to survivor shelters, educational scholarships and public advocacy. ShoeRevolt.com is an online shoe boutique that raises awareness of, inspires and empowers women to donate high-end shoes to eradicate human trafficking in the United States with every donated shoe sold.
