Poker After Dark Set to Begin $150k Cash Game
Over the next two weeks poker fans will be able to follow the action of one of the largest televised cash games in the history of poker as Poker After Dark airs their episodes for the $150,000 buy-in cash game.
The lineup is full of well-known poker pros, but not quite the names you might expect for a game with such a massive buy-in. In addition to high-stakes regulars like Phil Laak, Howard Lederer, Eli Elezra and David “Viffer” Peat, you’ll also get a look at Greg “FBT” Mueller and Olivier “livb123” Busquet.
The game will be played at very high stakes, with $300/$600 blinds and a $100 ante, and the short-handed format should make for a lot of action. Here is a look at the resumes of the six competitors in the $150k cash game:
Seat 1: David “Viffer” Peat
Viffer has become a regular in the high-stakes televised poker games, both for his skills, and his willingness to mix-it-up and gamble a little bit more than the average player. His quirky personality also plays well on TV, making him a favorite for these type of shows.
Seat 2: Howard Lederer
Lederer doesn’t make too many TV appearances, but as a major player in the Full Tilt Poker hierarchy he came out for the Full Tilt owned Poker After Dark. With over $6 million in tournament winnings, Lederer is one of the most recognizable players in poker.
Seat 3: Phil Laak
Laak is another player who plays well on TV thanks to odd personality. With Laak in the game you know you will be facing a very tight, calculating, opponent, but what you don’t know is what type of table-talk/prop-bets may be discussed!
Seat 4: Greg Mueller
Mueller is a former hockey pro who turned to poker when his career ended, and made waves when he won two WSOP bracelets at the 2009 WSOP. FBT as he is known online is one of the best poker players that nobody has heard of.
Seat 5: Olivier Busquet
The 2009 Borgata Poker open Champion is primarily an online pro who specializes in Sit & Go tournaments –too bad for him he ended up in the cash-game version of PAD—but has proven himself to be proficient in pretty much any poker format.
Seat 6: Eli Elezra
The Vegas businessman Elezra can be found virtually anywhere a high stakes poker game is being played, and even though he describes his poker playing as a “hobby”, his opponents know that his skills at the felt are World-Class.
